The Daylight War is the third book in the series of The Demon Cycle after The Desert Spear. It was released on the 12th of February 2013. It covers the build up in Krasia and Cutter's Hollow to the anticipated, critical encounter with the hordes of demons expected at the next new moon and beyond.

On July 18, 2023, Peter V. Brett reported on his blog that The Daylight War (along with The Desert Spear) would be getting a paperback re-release on November 7, 2023 by Del Rey Books as part of The Warded Man 15th anniversary.^[1]
